Knowing what blogging is and how it can help your business, I wanted to share the positives of starting a blog. There is a lot to think about before you approach blogging, but please don’t let that put you off. You had to think about a whole lot more before you started your business.
Having a blog can help your business grow. Having another outlet to create, connect and share all your wonderful creations and the inspiring ideas behind them can only be a plus. You can share so much more on your blog than on your shop pages.
The customers who come to your business do so for a reason. They love the fact that your items are unique and created by hand.
1 – No special skill needed to blog
You don’t need any special skill to start a blog. If you can read, type and click a mouse you good to go. It’s merely like having a business diary, where you can place your ideas, visions, new products, concepts, and experiences. All this kind of information about your business, your products and even some personal information about your self is a great read for people who want to know more about the maker behind the business. The more you can share with your potential customers, and put them at ease, is a sure-fire way of increasing your readership and gaining a sale.
2 – Blogging is authentic
The people behind blogs are real people, which gives a business a more personal quality to their product or service. There are so many businesses promoting their wares, that you have to give the consumer that little bit extra. Having something different to your business does not always mean an extra cost. Your customers can read about you and your product or service first hand, which can set you apart from those in the same field as your business. As a customer, you would definitely want to buy a tried and tested product, when you felt comfortable the with the business owner.
3 – Blogging is free
The software to create a blog is free to use and available from various platforms like Blogger, WordPress etc.. If you have an online business, you should have your own domain name. With your domain name, you can add your blog to a subfolder on your domain. This is the way I added my blog and it works great. It’s actually quite common for businesses to start a business blog in a subfolder. Yet that is not the rule if you don’t have a website you can use the blog platforms servers and host your small business blog there. However, you have more control of your blog if you have full control of it.
4 – Blogging builds your business credibility
As you get more and more into writing your experiences on a particular product or industry, your readers come to realize that they can depend on your posts for their own information needs. As such, you become an expert in your field; as a result, more readers will visit your website and more bloggers will link to you.
5 – Blogging builds upon your knowledge
All blogs require posts which basically consist of words and images. To be found online, people either know your website address already or you need help from the search engines to get customers to find you. The search engines love fresh content, updated content and regular content, so of course, search engines and blogs is a marriage made in heaven. If you are consistent with your content posting, and then submit your posts to a few of the large social bookmarking sites, it will be only a matter of time before you start to get a following, no matter how small.
