The internet has loads of cool tools to help you play work more productively. But with so many tools out there we can lose sight to what we have with us 247. How about looking at your mobile phone for more than just making calls and texting.
I have been using my mobile phone for more than calls and texting. Plus i didn’t have an android phone until about 2 weeks ago (at the time of writing this post), so my phone which just had the bare basics did me just fine before I upgraded. So you too can look at the following ways to use your mobile phone knowing you don’t need a phone that uses apps.
Take a picture in a new space
Use your camera to take pictures of your products. Its not a new idea but it is if you do it on the move. Take your product out of your home environment and find some new places as backdrops. You can really experiment when you think of the possible places you could place your products. Here’s a small list for you to get your creative camera finger started with:
The library | the park | at a friends house while they model your products | art galleries [be careful some don’t allow cameras | waiting rooms. Of course the places you use need to compliment your product in some way, but think of the possibilities. Think about it, your product could get some great backdrops all because you are looking around you with a new perspective.
Take a picture for inspiration
Remember when I shared some shop homepages and how you should use them as inspiration for your own, well this is the next level of inspiration. Hit the streets, girl and take images of shop windows that capture you. I bet you love a good old window shop like the next girl, so use it to your advantage. These shops don’t just put any old thing in the window , they have planned, prepared the space, chosen the items and pulled it all together. Hell the person who does it is a window display designer, they get paid to dress the window, so you know its serious business. Take this opportunity and use shops, boutiques, departments stores large budget for windows dressing for you own needs.
Start talking to yourself
Use the voice recorder feature to record you talking about ideas in your head, possible ideas for blog posts. Do it on the move, who cares if people look at you weird, you are working smarter. So when you get home now you have a good 10 minutes or more of recordings to help you in creating products, blog posts etc..
A quick look from the comfort of your settee
You should have internet access unless your phone is really old. Use this feature to quickly check updates, respond to messages etc.. on Twitter Facebook and other social media sites. It should not take long and it saves you powering up your desktop doesn’t it.
Alarm clock to remind you to stop
When doing the above use your alarm clock feature to remind you to leave the sites. We all know that we get carried away especially with Facebook and Pinterest. With Facebook you are updating your fanpage , then you see a image Lucy put in your stream and you take a look and you look some more. Next thing you know you are scrolling, talking and having a Facebook moment when you realise the days done and its time for bed. Ok I am exaggerating but you get my drift, time just disappears when you are on Facebook.
For me its Pintestet, I am like a kid in a candy shop when it comes to pinning images. If it was not for my strict time usage I would not eat or sleep because of Pinterest. Think about it, you could pin images all day long and that would not be enough. Then you have to check out other images on Pinterest and pin those, there’s so much to pin all the time lol. I now set a evening of pure pinning, so I can enjoy it without having to be yanked away because my 15 minute alarm clock is going off. Set a time and stick to it, those social media sites will be there tomorrow promise.
A dream, a goal, a plan
I love this one because I do this all the time. Record your dreams, no not the ones you have when your a sleep the ones that you want to make real. A dream can stay a dream if you wish, but you can make it real by taking action. Record what you want out of life, how you want to live. Before you go to sleep have a listen to your list, visualise already having them, how does it feel, what are you doing in your new lifestyle Go to sleep thinking and seeing you have made your dreams real, these will then enter you sub conscious. Then in the morning your dreams turn to goals which turn to tasks. Each and every dream you have has steps to make it real, you may not know all the steps. If that’s the case then one step is to find someone who can help you fill in the blanks.
By re-listening to your dream list, makes it get deeper into your mind body, subconscious As the awesome Will Smith once said “Once you have said it, it’s done. You just need to show the world now.”
In the comments share how you use your mobile phone for business other than for calls and texting.
