Starting an online income business requires you to be consistent and dedicated to your work. When your online venture is your passion you will excel in providing great products, services, and content to your users. When that happens your online community will return again and again to your online sites and then become your loyal followers, customers, readers.
The following is an overview of what it takes to create a strong online presence. However, each area requires continued research and work to help it grow and become financially viable.
The breakdown to achieving an online income
Topic of Choice
The important element of any online business, but the hardest for many to get their head around. You either have many interests that make you become undecided or you have none. Many on the internet grapevine say “pick a subject that you are passionate about”, this could be your hobby, your current job, a subject you are studying etc..
However, those that say that, don’t always lead by example, meaning that they actually did not start that way themselves, which I find ironic. I believe that it does not always work out that way, sometimes the topic finds you. However whether you have an interest or not, it’s not usually the topic itself that stumps people. What usually stops people from moving forward from this point is how will you know if a topic is worth pursuing. Plus the most important question to ask is “is their people who will need help with in this topic and will it turn into you earning an income from it”.
Products
The internet is overwhelming when it comes to looking for a product and service to promote or to promote your own. Existing online business owners are lucky to have fulfilled this area already. Nevertheless, that does not stop many including myself from having the best of both worlds. Being online and selling either your own products or being an affiliate for others, totally changes your perspective of the business world. Mothers, fathers, students, large companies, small business owners all become part of one large playing field where you can be seen as an equal.
If you (the person working from your kitchen table) has a product, you know your product, you can communicate its benefits to your target audience. You market the product to your customer’s needs and you sell your product again and again then you are doing exactly the same as large companies with 100’s of employees. The product whether it’s physical or digital is what you sell to earn an online income. However, it’s not an easy road, for you have to know what your potential customers want and then provides it.
Keywords Research
Keywords, keyword research, search engine optimization seems to be everywhere. Without it you are lost amongst your competition, with it you are at the top of your game and at the top of major search engines. Without it, you are lost at defining your web presence but with it, your readers or buyers will connect with your offering.
Whether its one keyword or long-tail keywords, without keywords your online business experience will be hard and unpredictable.
Keep the Traffic Coming
There are so many methods that are used to generate traffic to a website or blog, that no one should say “I can not get any traffic”. Unless you are a complete beginner to the internet, finding ways to generate traffic is as simple as typing “How to get traffic” into any search engine. However, the problem with having so many options is that you can become unsure of where to begin in this traffic maze. Even the most experienced internet marketers get bombarded with new traffic generating ways all the time.
People add their own twists to the old ways and call it the new way. Some combine the old and new and call it a new way. Then there are people who help change the way we use certain websites or interactions. This then changes the way we need to target those users. As you can see the internet and traffic methods are forever changing and because it will not stand still that means you have to be consistent with the traffic methods you choose to use also. The best place to start is to have either 1 or 2 methods and work with those for your business, master them, build upon them and then use those results to help you decide what your next steps will be.
Valued Content
Content is what basically runs every part of an online business. You will need content that is related to your niche, then you will need to find, research, write or outsource to get good quality information. You will be using your content to add to your blogs and your website on a regular basis.
Content for forums, social networks, article sites, your free or paid reports, ebooks, e-courses, email messages, autoresponders messages and much more. Without constant, fresh content your online business will not be able to keep readers, users or customers coming back to your website.
Email Capture & Sell
Email details is one key way to constant long-term sales. Its easier to re-sell to a customer who has already brought from you, than persuading a new customer to buy. Every online business owner should have an email list of its buying customers, subscribers etc.. It’s this list that will allow you to have a long-term profit income stream if used correctly.
Sell related products or services, listen to your customers, keep them updated, stay fresh in their minds and continue to look after them. If you don’t like emailing your customers about new products or services, you need to look at large businesses like Amazon they do it so why can’t you. Check your email inbox, see how many emails you have that are offering you products, discounts etc..
Every business is doing it because they know the potential in their email list. If a business is not using its email list to promote and stay fresh in its customer’s minds then they are missing an opportunity to make more money.
