Do you believe in your dreams? Are you fed up of wanting and not getting? Is what you want so outrageously impossible, it’s unthinkable that you will ever get it?
Our dreams are the powerful inner self-saying we deserve to have what we want so let’s go get it. Of course, many love to dream but simply don’t act in getting that dream.
I’ve always wanted big, even as a child it was there. I have a vivid memory of asking my mother for a trendy PlayStation 1 games console when they first came out. She with a beautiful smile said no. That no did not stop me, I kept on asking hoping she would eventually say yes. Which she didn’t, so after a while I stopped asking but never threw away my dream of that games console. It was a few years later when I left junior school and went on a youth training scheme course in computers, where I got paid. I saved my first 3 wage packets and brought that PlayStation games console.
I now know my mom could not afford to buy that games console, even working all the hours she did. What happened at that moment back then was that she, instilled in me taking action in my dreams. Children imagine so much and want so much which is wonderful because they don’t see or think about not getting it. Until they start to grow up and others start to impose their own insecurities on them. Listen enough and you start to believe what we hear.
Dreaming big is different for all of us.
But what defines a big dream?
For me, I see a big dream as something you want but seems almost impossible to get due to your present situation or circumstance.
What all big dreams should have in common is the belief and faith that the dream will happen. I say should because many just don’t have the belief, or don’t take action toward it.
I know it’s easier said than done. But you have to take action and do what it takes to get your dream real. Visualise your dream, believe in your dream and put steps in places to get it. Then receiving will be just a matter of time.
You are not alone when dreaming big is concerned and having doubts is not uncommon either.
I came across this great video by an awesome blogger named Darren Rowse who founded Problogger.net
He did a talk at World Domination Summit in Portland about dreaming and getting them out your head. It was great to see the big boys sort of speak thinking like i do. It confirms that where ever you are in life those that achieve and succeed truly believe in their dreams and take action to get them. Then start making new dreams.
In the video he covers the following points:
- How he started his first business at 9
- The words an ex-girlfriend said that changed his life
- The 4 words that started him blogging and changed the trajectory of his life
- A close encounter he had with Russell Brand in a men’s bathroom
- Where to look for your ‘next big thing’
- The two questions he asks me every day that have unlocked some amazing opportunities for him.
Note: It’s a long vid. When I viewed it I listened to parts of it in the background while I worked on other stuff. Multi-tasking is my thing:)
Never stop dreaming
Never stop believing
Always take action in getting them
What did you take from the video? Share one of your dreams, if you dare?
